Specification
Indicative values. The binding spec is the one in the signed contract.
| Parameter | Indicative value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Variety | Ri6 or Monthong, one per lot | Flavour differs sharply; mixing shifts your recipe. |
| Format | Seedless pulp, or paste | No de-seeding at your plant. |
| Soluble solids | ≥ 20 °Bx | A floor protects your formula. |
| Freezing | ≤ −35 °C for ≥ 1 h, core ≤ −18 °C | Fast freezing limits ice crystals. |
| Drip loss after thaw | < 5 % | Liquid lost is yield lost. |
| Storage | −18 °C or colder, unbroken | Thaw–refreeze shows up as drip and off-flavour. |
| Shelf life | Up to 24 months | Buy in season, produce all year. |
| Packing | 10 kg carton, double food-grade PE liner | Decides how much you thaw at once. |
| Label | Product, origin, plant code, exporter, dates | A wrong plant code is a common rejection cause in China. |
Last reviewed 10 Oct 2026. Test method, sampling point and settlement basis are fixed in the contract.
Ri6 or Monthong?
Ri6 when durian is the hero flavour. Monthong when it has to blend. Samples of both can ship together.
| Trait | Ri6 | Monthong |
|---|---|---|
| Flavour | Strong, aromatic, bittersweet | Mild, sweet, clean |
| Flesh | Deep yellow, creamy | Pale yellow, thick |
| Best for | Ice cream, mochi, durian desserts | Bakery fillings, bubble tea, blends |
Market access
China
Admitted under the Vietnam–China protocol in force since 19 Aug 2024. The plant must be registered with China customs; the code is printed on every carton.
South Korea
Vietnamese durian is admitted frozen only, so frozen pulp is the practical route.
US, Japan, EU
Mainly frozen or processed. Residues and labels follow the destination's rules, checked against the lot's COA.
Checked 10 Oct 2026. We reconfirm for each contract.
Documents with each lot
- Commercial invoice and packing list
- Certificate of analysis (COA)
- Health certificate
- Certificate of origin (Form E on request)
- Bill of lading and reefer temperature record
- Copies of the plant's certificates
What we will not offer
- A price before the spec and sample are agreed
- Mixed Ri6 and Monthong sold as one variety
- Pulp from a plant not registered for your market
- A certificate the plant does not hold
Before you order
How long does frozen durian pulp keep?
Up to 24 months at −18 °C or colder, provided the cold chain is never broken. Thawed pulp should be used promptly and not refrozen.
What if the lot arrives outside the specification?
The contract names the test method, the sampling point and the settlement basis before shipment. Deviations are handled against that clause and the lot's COA and temperature record — not by negotiation after arrival.
Can I trial a smaller quantity first?
Yes. After the sample is approved, a trial below a full reefer can be arranged by agreement; regular orders then move to 40-ft reefers. The typical net load depends on format and pallet plan and is stated in the quotation.
Is frozen durian pulp the same as durian paste?
No. Pulp keeps the texture of the flesh; paste is homogenised for direct dosing into mixes. Both are seedless and frozen; tell us how it enters your process and we recommend one.
